About Winery
Chantereves was founded in 2010 in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Burgundy, by winemakers Tomoko Kuriyama (originally from Japan, trained in Germany) and Guillaume Bott (a Burgundian winemaker with experience at Simon Bize). The two met in 2005 during harvest at Simon Bize and later launched Chantereves as a micro-négociant project, sourcing grapes and vinifying wines with a philosophy of purity, elegance, and respect for terroir. Initially working as négociants, they gained recognition for championing varieties like Aligoté and for their meticulous, low-intervention approach. In 2020, they expanded by acquiring 4.7 hectares of vineyards in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, including parcels in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Chorey-lès-Beaune, and Fussey, which they farm organically and biodynamically. Today, Chantereves is celebrated for its vibrant, terroir-driven wines that blend Burgundian tradition with a contemporary, artisanal vision.
Winemaker Notes
Beguiling aromatics of exotic spice, violets, blueberries and crushed rocks soar from the glass, leading into a wine of staggering elegance and expressiveness. Juicy yet refined, it already shows remarkable completeness, with a suave balance that promises even greater things in bottle. The blend is 85.8% Syrah, 5.5% Grenache, 3.7% Petite Sirah, 3.3% Mourvèdre, 1.3% Petit Manseng and 0.4% Muscat, vinified with 11% whole clusters. Nearly half of the fruit comes from the Third Twin Vineyard in 2023, which imbues the Distenta V with brightness and verve.

Petite Sirah is the leading grape of the 2017 Ingenuity and future vintages. It is still the “Paso Roblean Rhone Blend," but with a bit more identity, purpose and well, Petite-Sirah-ness.

About Winery
Domaine Dugat-Py, rooted in Gevrey-Chambertin since the early 17th century, is a family estate now led by Bernard Dugat and his son Loïc, representing the 12th and 13th generations of vignerons.
The Dugat family’s winemaking history began in 1645, with continuous cultivation in Gevrey-Chambertin for centuries. The modern domaine was formally established in 1923, when Fernand Dugat married Jeanne Bolnot, uniting two winegrowing families. Bernard Dugat made his first vinification and vineyard purchase in 1975, marking the start of a new era. In 1994, the estate became known as Domaine Dugat-Py, and Loïc Dugat joined in 1996, ushering in a stylistic evolution toward balance and finesse. The domaine converted to organic farming in 1999 and achieved full certification in 2003, working with old vines across about 10–15 hectares. Known for powerful, age-worthy wines with deep color and structure, Dugat-Py has become one of Burgundy’s most respected names, combining centuries of tradition with modern, detail-focused viticulture under Loïc’s leadership.
Winemaker Notes
The 2019 Cakebread Dancing Bear Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon (Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, California, USA) is a powerful and complex wine. It opens with aromas of pine bark, cedar, cherries, and faint herbal notes. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, ripe and concentrated, with a touch of creaminess at the mid-palate. Flavors of dark chocolate, black pepper, tar, and ripe black fruits are supported by firm tannins and lavish oak, accented by graphite, pencil shavings, and clove. The finish is long, mouthwatering, and layered, showing both richness and elegance. This vintage includes a small percentage of Merlot, adding depth and approachability, while still reflecting the bold character of Howell Mountain fruit.

Cakebread Cellars was founded in 1973 by Jack and Dolores Cakebread in Rutherford, Napa Valley, California. Their journey began when Jack, originally a photographer, visited Napa to shoot images for a wine book and ended up purchasing a small ranch. The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve is fabulous. Inky, rich and explosive, the 2018 is a fine addition to the lineage of one of Napa Valley's most historic wines. Inky red fruit, chocolate, leather and licorice all open in the glass. Aeration brings out floral top notes, raspberry and a hint of blood orange. There is plenty of depth, but the tannins are finer than they were a few years ago. Shorter time on the skins and a reduction in barrel fermentations really allow the pedigree of these Rutherford sites to come through. The 2018 is sensational.

Winemaker Notes
Dominus 2008 is a wine of great purity and definition, with distinct berry aromas and a supple yet precise palate. Deep blackberry and dark plums complement fine mineral notes. This wine is intensely perfumed, velvety and ethereal. Decant the wine prior to serving, to allow it to develop its full potential. This is especially important when serving young Dominus wines.
About Winery
The vineyards of Dominus Estate have connections to the original history of the Napa Valley as they date back to the mid 1850’s, or even earlier, when it was first cultivated. At the time, it was known as the Napanook vineyard.
In the late 1960s, while attending the University of California at Davis, Christian Moueix fell in love with the Napa Valley and its wines. Son of Jean-Pierre Moueix, the famed wine merchant and producer from Libourne, France, Moueix returned home in 1970 to manage the family vineyards, including Chateaux Petrus, La Fleur-Petrus, Trotanoy in Pomerol and Magdelaine in St. Emilion.
His love of Napa Valley lingered and in 1981, he discovered the historic Napanook vineyard, a 124-acre site west of Yountville that had been the source of fruit for some of the finest Napa Valley wines of the 1940s and 1950s.
In 1982, Moueix entered into a partnership with Robin Lail and Marcia Smith, the daughters of John Daniels who owned the vineyard. In 1995, he became the sole owner of the estate and chose the name Dominus, or “Lord of the Estate” in Latin to underscore his longstanding commitment to stewardship of the land.
One of the most respected wine producers in the world, Christian Moueix is on a personal quest for perfection in grape growing and winemaking. It is a journey that began in Bordeaux and continues today at Dominus Estate.

The 2019 Avinodos Cabernet Sauvignon from the Stags Leap District is a powerful yet elegant Napa Valley wine, showcasing ripe dark fruits such as blackberry, cassis, and plum, layered with notes of cocoa, tobacco, leather, and smoky oak. With firm tannins, lively acidity, and a grippy finish, it balances richness with structure, making it both approachable now and age-worthy through 2038. Aged in 100% French oak (50% new), this limited-production wine (125 cases) has earned critical acclaim, including 97 points and Best in Class at the Sunset International Wine Competition, highlighting its depth, complexity, and classic Stags Leap character.

The 2022 Insignia is fresh and focused on entry with expressive cocoa powder, graphite and earthy spices. Elegant and complex with a supple, creamy texture and bold tannins, this latest vintage offers luscious ripe plum and blackberry character with hints of roasted coffee and dark cherry throughout the palate to a long, velvety finish.

2008 | WA 94
The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection is the first example of this cuvee to include Merlot (about 14%) in the blend. The Merlot component has given the wine a cocoa/chocolate nuance to its black currant, licorice-infused fruit. The tannins are velvety soft and the wine is beautifully textured and full-bodied. It is ideal for drinking now and over the next 15 years.

The 2016 Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich, opulent Napa Valley red defined by lush aromas of blackberry jam, cassis, and cocoa. The palate bursts with ripe blackcurrant, dark cherry, and plum, layered with sweet vanilla oak, espresso, anise, and a long, velvety mocha finish.

Flashy, with boysenberry and mulberry pâte de fruit notes that roll through, throwing off licorice snap and acai berry notes as well. Ends with a high-gloss toasty finish.

In 1972, Chuck Wagner started Caymus Vineyards with his parents, Charlie and Lorna, with a humble plan and an uncharted future. The Wagner family were farmers with deep roots in the Napa Valley – in 1857, Chuck Wagner’s great-great grandfather captained a wagon train to California from Bible Grove, Missouri. Working together for decades, Chuck Wagner and his parents established the family’s work ethic, appetite for innovation, down-to-earth sensibility, and deep appreciation of the pleasures of good food and wine enjoyed with family and friends.
Winemaker Notes
The 2022 Syrah Distenta IV is a blend of 83% Syrah, 6% Grenache, 5% Petite Sirah, and the rest Mourvèdre and white varieties. It sports a dense purple hue and offers stunning aromatics of ripe blue fruits, framboise, liquid violets, white pepper, game, bouquet garni, and spice. These carry to the palate of a full-bodied Syrah that’s concentrated yet balanced, with a broad, layered mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a great finish. I was able to follow this bottle over multiple days, and it only improved with air, gaining both complexity and texture. While this is clearly a more accessible vintage compared to the 2021s, it still deserves 3-4 years in bottle and should have 15-20 years of prime drinking given its balance, purity, and harmony.
