PRE-ORDER About Winery Carillon d'Angélus highlight its identity as a second wine from Château Angélus, emphasizing the wine's characteristics derived from its terroir. At the origin of Angelus is an exceptionally well-situated vineyard, at the gates to the village of Saint-Émilion, on the famous south-facing "foot of the slope". Since 1782, over the generations, the passion and determination of the de Boüard de Laforest family have built a destiny worthy of the Estate. At 131 hectares including 62 hectares in Saint-Émilion, of which 31 hectares from the historic heart of the Estate, Angelus is now one of the largest vineyards in the appellation. In 2012, after more than thirty years at the helm of Angelus, Hubert de Boüard de Laforest passed the baton to his daughter, Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal. She became the third woman in the family's nearly 250-year history to preside over the destiny of this emblematic Estate, ensuring its legacy continues to thrive. Today, Angelus employs 170 people, produces 8 cuvées and owns restaurants and hotels, in particular, the Logis de la Cadène in Saint-Émilion and Le Gabriel in Bordeaux. In 2023, diversification continued with the creation of La Ferme 1544, forming a link between Château Angelus wine business and its restaurants.

    Chateau Angelus Chateau Angelus

PRE-ORDER 2008 | JD 95 Deep plum color with aromas of blueberries, cassis, tobacco, and espresso. It is a medium-bodied wine with polished, fine-grained tannins and high acidity. 2009 | WA 99 Intense aromas of blueberry liqueur, graphite, and spring flowers. Known for a plush, velvet-smooth texture, it offers rich dark fruit, espresso, and cocoa notes, delivering a powerful yet refined, long-lasting finish. 2010 | WA 99 This is a classic vintage, amazingly rich and outstandingly precise. It has a deep black colour, strong, pure aromas and an impressive, subtly expressed tannic structure. This lushness combined with its elegant freshness that comes mainly from the beautiful Cabernet Franc grapes, makes this magnificent vintage a very long-keeping wine. 2011 | JS 95 The 2011 vintage is considered a "winner" for the estate, showcasing a more elegant and accessible profile compared to more massive vintages like 2010. Critics describe it as having a "supple and sexy" feel, featuring ripe plum and sandalwood.  2012 | WA 94 The 2012 vintage had a tough start with a chaotic spring. Fortunately, July and August were perfect for good grape development. The nose is remarkably intense and the purity of its fruit aromas is amazing. The top quality Cabernet Franc grapes straighten out the wine’s structure and provide a great accompaniment for the velvety, tender Merlot, while contributing elegance and precision to the whole. 2017 | JD 97 The 2017 has deep color, while on the nose it shows immediate charm and pure aromatics bursting with fruit. On the palate, the tannins are tight-grained and silky, precise and in goodbalance with flesh and great freshness that brings energy and mouth-watering length of flavour. 2017 at Angélus is both harmonious and bursting with fruit flavor. 2018 | JD 100 Magnificient freshness in the Merlot, a selection of very old Cabernet Franc planted on clay-limestone soils and gentle extraction during vinification have combined to make this vintage a very great Chateau Angelus. A lovely depth of color attracts the eye. Perfect aromatic purity (the fruit of precision work on a daily basis), together with notes of black fruit give great charm on the nose. On the palate, a sweet note gives way to elegant tension with refined, velvety tannins. The alcohol (below that of 2010) and the oak are perfectly integrated. The finish is lingering, underpinned by the elegance of the Cabernet Franc, by the purity of the fruit, and accompanied by delicate spicy notes. 2020 | JS 99 Blackberry and plum character with chocolate, too. Oyster shell. Full and very firm with a linear sensibility. Tight and powerful. Very pure fruit. Tension and energy there. Polished tannins. Some coffee bean and chocolate.  About Winery At the origin of Angelus is an exceptionally well-situated vineyard, at the gates to the village of Saint-Émilion, on the famous south-facing "foot of the slope".
