The 2017 Duckhorn Merlot Three Palms is a full-bodied, elegant Merlot with luxurious aromas of black cherry, plum, and cedar, complemented by notes of chocolate and spice. The palate is rich with red and black fruit, fig, and earthy iron notes, supported by a dense core of super-fine tannins and a long, complex finish. Duckhorn Vineyards was founded in Napa Valley by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, releasing their first vintage, including a pioneering Merlot, in 1978. The estate vineyards of Opus One, comprised of four parcels, sit in the western portion of the famed Oakville AVA in Napa Valley. Two parcels, totaling 100 acres, are within the renowned To Kalon Vineyard. These are complemented by the combined 70 acres of the Ballestra and River parcels, which envelop the winery. In the vineyards, hand-harvesting and other traditional approaches are taken wherever they work best. When modern techniques benefit the winegrowing process, they are researched, evaluated and integrated into practice.
Winemaker Notes
The 2022 DAOU Chardonnay displays a rich, ample nose of pineapple, vanilla bean, mango, hazelnut and nutmeg spice. Floral tones of honeysuckle and star jasmine are accented by sweet ginger and lemon zest. The palate is weighty and mouthfilling, delivering round, silky flavors of Bartlett pear, Crenshaw melon, kiwi and fresh pineapple. Notes of Golden Delicious apple and papaya are complemented with lemon cream pie and crushed almonds, while hints of white peach, citrus peel and cinnamon linger on a long, graceful finish.

Hawks wheel and bank while the all-day sun caresses close planted rows of lush, emerald green vines. The 100 percent calcareous soil makes no sound as it passes out nourishment and only a gentle breeze flows up through the Templeton Gap from the Pacific. Dominus EstateRooted in Napa Valley history, Dominus Estate occupies the famed Napanook vineyard—first cultivated in the mid-1800s and known for producing legendary wines of the 1940s and ’50s.
In 1981, Bordeaux vintner Christian Moueix—son of Jean-Pierre Moueix of Château Pétrus—discovered the historic 124-acre site while honoring a passion for Napa first sparked at UC Davis. By 1995, he became sole owner, naming it Dominus ("Lord of the Estate") to reflect his deep commitment to the land.

What makes this wine so special is that it’s a true expression of small-lot Chardonnay in the Willamette Valley. It’s not mass-produced, it’s something that we make less than 200 cases of to really focus on bringing the best possible blend we can make.
We’re fortunate to have this sweet spot for Chardonnay in the Pacific Northwest that is a bridge between the rich, opulent wines of California and the racy, acidic wines of Burgundy that need to be heavily oaked and sit for years before they’re drinkable.
With our Kudos Chardonnay, we make a sensible, partially oaked wine and intertwine it with stainless steel during fermentation to bring a balanced, cool-climate wine with body and structure as well as some of the tasty butterscotch and vanilla notes that we love in Chardonnay.

About Winery
Château Grand Corbin, located in Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, has a rich history dating back to the 19th century, with documented ties to the land even earlier. Initially, the estate was part of the Corbin seigneurie and later expanded in 1852. In 2012, Château Haut Corbin was merged into Château Grand Corbin, creating a larger estate. The Despagne family has been associated with the land since at least the 16th century, with Louis Despagne acquiring initial plots in 1812. The estate was recognized as a Grand Cru Classé during the 2006 Saint-Émilion classification.
WINEMAKER NOTES
