Cakebread Cellars was founded in 1973 by Jack and Dolores Cakebread in Rutherford, Napa Valley, California. Their journey began when Jack, originally a photographer, visited Napa to shoot images for a wine book and ended up purchasing a small ranch. Domaine Arnaud Lopez is a relatively new but highly respected Burgundy estate, founded by Arnaud Lopez after a decade of experience at the legendary Domaine Prieuré Roch. Originally from Nuits-Saint-Georges, Lopez grew up surrounded by Burgundy’s wine culture—his father ran a wine bistro frequented by top vignerons of the Côte de Nuits. At age 35, he shifted careers into viticulture, joining Prieuré Roch in 2007, where he worked for 12 years honing his craft. Veuve Clicquot Rich Rosé flows with a vibrant, deep pink hue and a lively, playful effervescence. Crafted with a high dosage explicitly to be served over ice, the palate is luscious, sweet, and remarkably full-bodied, yielding rich flavors of jammy dark fruits and sweet red plums. Veuve Clicquot, now one of the largest Champagne Houses, was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot under the label "Clicquot". After establishing the brand throughout Europe, Russia and the United States, Philippe was joined by his son, François Clicquot, at the head of the House in 1798. Seven years later, following his untimely death, François’ young widow, Barbe Ponsardin, took over the family business at just 27 years old. The House would subsequently be renamed in her honor: ‘Veuve Clicquot’ means ‘The Widow Clicquot.’

The 2020 Joseph Drouhin Meursault 1er Cru "Genevrières" Blanc is an exceptional expression of a warm, solar Burgundy vintage, showing off a bright, pale golden-yellow hue in the glass. The nose is remarkably expressive from the start, offering a classic "Genevrières" bouquet of ripe yellow orchard fruits, acacia blossoms, and orange peel, woven together with subtle hints of toasted brioche and vanilla bean. On the palate, the wine delivers the round, voluptuous texture characteristic of 2020, coating the mouth with layers of juicy peach, lemon curd, and a distinct, underlying hazelnut richness. Despite the heat of the growing season, a brilliant vein of citrusy acidity cuts through the opulence, maintaining immaculate balance and driving the wine into a long, mineral-flecked finish that lingers with a sophisticated touch of spice. This is a beautifully layered white Burgundy that is approachable now due to its generous fruit profile, but possesses the structure to evolve beautifully over the next decade.

Domaine Coche-Dury, based in Meursault, Burgundy, is one of the most revered producers of white Burgundy. The estate was founded in the 1920s by Léon Coche, who purchased vineyard plots and initially sold grapes to négociants while bottling a small amount himself. In 1964, his son Georges Coche took over his share of the vineyards, expanding holdings and strengthening the domaine. Georges’s son Jean-François Coche assumed control in 1973, and with his wife (whose surname, Dury, was added to the domaine’s name), he transformed Coche-Dury into a cult estate. Known for meticulous vineyard work, low yields, and precise winemaking, Jean-François elevated the domaine’s reputation to global acclaim, especially for its Chardonnay from Meursault, Corton-Charlemagne, and other Côte de Beaune sites. In 1999, the domaine suffered a notable setback when a helicopter crash damaged part of its Corton-Charlemagne vines, but it continued to thrive. Vega Sicilia is one of Spain’s most iconic and prestigious wineries, with a rich history dating back to 1864. Here's a brief overview:
Founded by Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves, a Spanish winemaker trained in Bordeaux, who brought with him French grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. He planted these alongside the native Tempranillo (then called Tinto del País) in the Ribera del Duero region.
The winery gained fame in the 20th century for producing some of Spain’s most celebrated wines, especially its flagship wine, Único, known for its complexity and extraordinary aging potential.
In 1982, the Álvarez family acquired Vega Sicilia, marking a new era of modernization and expansion. Under Pablo Álvarez’s leadership, the winery has maintained its legendary status while also expanding into other regions like Toro (with Pintia) and Rioja.
Despite its name, Vega Sicilia has no connection to the island of Sicily. “Vega” refers to fertile river plains, and “Sicilia” is believed to reference Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music.

The Mugneret family established their domaine in 1933, when Jean Mugneret began bottling wines in Vosne-Romanée. His son Georges expanded the holdings, acquiring parcels in some of Burgundy’s most prestigious vineyards, including Échezeaux, Ruchottes-Chambertin, and Clos Vougeot. After Georges’s death in 1988, his wife Jacqueline and their daughters Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée took over, renaming the estate Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg to honor both Georges and Jacqueline’s family name.
