The 2022 Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett from the Mosel is a beautifully balanced, classic Kabinett. It opens with aromas of light peach, apricot, and white tree fruit, alongside subtle wild berry and herbal notes. On the palate, it is light-bodied yet concentrated, showing expressive acidity, pronounced slate-driven minerality, and a touch of salinity that adds tension. The finish is long, clean, and racy, with remarkable precision and freshness. Critics praised its finesse, with James Suckling awarding 95 points, highlighting its wide aromatic spectrum and impressive focus, while Robert Parker and Decanter also rated it highly (93–94 points). This vintage is approachable now but will gain further elegance with bottle age.
About Winery
Joh. Jos. Prüm is one of Germany’s most iconic Mosel wineries, founded in 1911 by Johann Josef Prüm after the division of the larger S.A. Prüm estate. The Prüm family, however, had already been established in Wehlen for centuries, with records of their winemaking presence dating back over 400 years. Johann Josef’s son, Sebastian, was instrumental in shaping the estate’s reputation during the 1930s and 1940s, developing the distinct style of elegant, mineral-driven Rieslings that became their hallmark. After Sebastian’s death in 1969, his son Dr. Manfred Prüm took over, further elevating the estate’s global prestige. Today, the winery is managed by Manfred alongside his daughter Katharina Prüm, continuing the family tradition of producing world-class Rieslings from legendary Mosel vineyards such as Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, and Bernkasteler Badstube.
Winemaker Notes
"Pink with amber highlights. A lively, intense bouquet of red fruits (wild strawberry, raspberry, cherry), floral nuances of rose with a slight hint of pepper. On the palate, the juicy, persistent intensity of berries with the fleshiness and firmness of peach. The freshness of a subtle note of menthol."
About Winery
Moët & Chandon, based in the so-called "Champagne capital" of Épernay, is easily the most famous house in the Champagne region. It is one of the largest too, comprising 1150 hectares (2850 acres) of estate vineyards plus more from growers, 28km (17 miles) of cellars and a production capacity of 60 million bottles a year.
The house was founded by Claude Moët in 1743. However, his grandson, Jean-Remy Moët, is credited with having brought Champagne to a wider audience and, by the 19th Century, the house was recognized both domestically and internationally.
In the 1970s and '80s, Moët & Chandon expanded its empire beyond Champagne, partnering first with Cognac house Hennessy and then with fashion giant Louis Vuitton, forming the well-known luxury conglomerate Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy –often referred to simply as LVMH.
Today, the group owns several other famous wine brands, including Krug and Veuve Clicquot in Champagne, Château Cheval Blanc in Bordeaux, and Cloudy Bay in New Zealand and Cape Mentelle in Western Australia.
Moët's house style is fresh and fruit-forward, and the non-vintage Brut is dominated by Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with a smaller amount of Chardonnay. Grapes are drawn from 800 different parcels from 230 of the villages in Champagne.
This wide range of terroirs to draw from means that blenders have more control over the finished wine, and despite the massive output every year, Moët's wines are remarkably consistent. The majority of processes in the winery are controlled by machine – unsurprising given the scale of production.
Moët & Chandon's range is straightforward, comprising of non vintage brut, rosé and demi sec, as well as vintage brut and rosé offerings. Their prestige cuvée is the iconic Dom Pérignon, although over time this has come to be seen as a separate entity, in much the same spirit as Napa Valley icon Opus One.
The house has expanded far outside of Champagne, and is currently making sparkling wines in California, Argentina, Brazil and Australia under the Chandon label. Most recently, Moët & Chandon has acquired vineyards in India and China, where they are also finding new markets.
Winemaker Notes
On the palate the attack is distinctive and full, cradled by a gentle effervescence. The balance brings together delightful freshness and a voluptuous body. An elegant burst of peppermint and pink grapefruit rounds out this cheeky palette of aromas.
The nose offers intense notes of exotic fruits (pomegranate, lychee and guava) that develop alongside soft floral essences (rose) and notes of freshly picked red fruits (cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry). These aromas splendidly showcase the wine’s subtle, spicy notes (tonka bean and nutmeg).
About Winery
Founded in 1729, Ruinart is the first established champagne house in the world, born from the ambition of Dom Ruinart’s true enlightened mind. His vision made him perceive before anyone else the potential of sparkling wines from the Champagne region. Each of Ruinart’s cuvées bears the distinctive signature of Chardonnay, the House’s emblematic grape variety. Elegance, refinement, purity, light and distinctive taste make Ruinart a timeless and modern icon.

The 2011 Marius Delarche Corton Les Renardes (Reserve/Vieilles Vignes) is a robust Grand Cru Pinot Noir produced from estate vines planted in the 1950s on the iron-rich, stony soils of the Renardes climat. According to North Berkeley Imports, the wine presents a "brooding and layered" character with a complex bouquet of red and black berries, warm earth, licorice, and light smoke.

Winemaker Notes
This wine is so integrated, even from an early age, that you will never guess it is a blend of five different varieties off of our Paderewski and Catapult Vineyards. The entry is full and lush leading to an über long and velvety midpalate which encircles the mouth. While we revel in its plushness, it never feels too heavy or thick as the cohesive acid weaves its way through the sensations of black licorice, black cherry and raspberry, grilled meats and herbs, candied lavender, rose oil, warm underbrush, and vanilla bean.

The Armand de Brignac Rosé (Ace of Spades) presents a vibrant and luxurious profile, opening with aromas of fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blackcurrants, lifted by hints of citrus zest and delicate floral notes. On the palate, it is rich yet elegant, combining layers of ripe red fruits with subtle pastry, vanilla, and mineral undertones, supported by crisp acidity and fine bubbles. The addition of still Pinot Noir lends depth and intensity, giving the wine a fuller body and a striking salmon-pink hue. The finish is long and refined, marked by chalky minerality and lingering notes of red berries and spice, making it both indulgent and sophisticated.
About Winery
Armand de Brignac, also known as “Ace of Spades,” is a French luxury champagne brand originally registered by Champagne Cattier in the 1950s, but it remained obscure until its relaunch in 2006 as a prestige cuvée. Produced in Chigny-les-Roses by the Cattier family, who have cultivated vineyards since 1763, the brand gained global fame when rapper Jay-Z embraced it following a dispute with Cristal Champagne and later acquired it outright in 2014. In 2021, Jay-Z sold a 50% stake to LVMH, cementing Armand de Brignac’s position as a symbol of exclusivity and modern luxury, with its iconic metallic bottles and multi-vintage blends.

The 2017 Duckhorn Merlot Three Palms is a full-bodied, elegant Merlot with luxurious aromas of black cherry, plum, and cedar, complemented by notes of chocolate and spice. The palate is rich with red and black fruit, fig, and earthy iron notes, supported by a dense core of super-fine tannins and a long, complex finish. The rocky soil of the Three Palms Vineyard contributes a signature minerality and concentrated fruit, while the warm 2017 vintage provided ideal conditions for flavor and tannin development, resulting in a deeply flavored and sophisticated wine with a plush, round texture.
About Winery
Duckhorn Vineyards was founded in Napa Valley by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, releasing their first vintage, including a pioneering Merlot, in 1978. The winery established a tradition of quality and excellence, particularly known for its Merlots, with its Three Palms Vineyard Merlot becoming an iconic wine. Duckhorn Vineyards is now part of The Duckhorn Portfolio, a company that has grown significantly through vineyard acquisitions and the launch of other brands like Decoy, before being acquired by private equity firms, most recently Butterfly Equity in 2024.
2018 | V 98
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve is fabulous. Inky, rich and explosive, the 2018 is a fine addition to the lineage of one of Napa Valley's most historic wines. Inky red fruit, chocolate, leather and licorice all open in the glass. Aeration brings out floral top notes, raspberry and a hint of blood orange. There is plenty of depth, but the tannins are finer than they were a few years ago. Shorter time on the skins and a reduction in barrel fermentations really allow the pedigree of these Rutherford sites to come through. The 2018 is sensational.
