Beaux Frères is the story of an uncommon encounter between the exceptional Willamette Valley, Oregon terroir and Founder Michael Etzel. While on vacation in 1986, Michael Etzel came upon an 88-acre pig farm for sale located on Ribbon Ridge in the Northern Willamette Valley, Yamhill County, Oregon. After some deliberation, Michael purchased the farm with his brother-in-law (“beaux frères”), Robert Parker, Jr. Since their first vintage in 1991, the Beaux Frères philosophy remains the same; to produce a world-class Pinot Noir from small, well-balanced yields and ripe, healthy fruit that represent the essence of the vineyard, while also using organic and biodynamic practices. Today, Beaux Frères is recognized as an exemplary Estate in Oregon.

Château Nenin, a Pomerol winery with a history dating back to the 18th century, is known for its premium red wines, particularly those featuring a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Initially owned by the Demay and Paillet families, the estate was later acquired by the Despujol family, who owned it until 1997. In that year, Michel Delon, also owner of Château Léoville Las Cases, purchased the property and initiated significant improvements to the vineyard and facilities, including modernizing the winemaking process.

Domaine Jean Chartron, based in Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, was founded in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, a cooper who became mayor of Puligny. His daughter Eugénie Dupard married Jean-Edmond Chartron, bringing vineyard parcels as her dowry and establishing the Chartron family’s deep roots in Puligny-Montrachet. In 1873, Dupard successfully petitioned to add “Montrachet” to the village’s name, cementing its association with one of Burgundy’s most prestigious Grand Cru vineyards. Over five generations, the Chartron family has expanded the domaine to around 13–14.5 hectares, cultivating Chardonnay and Pinot Noir across Puligny-Montrachet and neighboring villages. Domaine des Malandes is a family-run estate in Chablis, founded in 1972 by Lyne Marchive, daughter of André Tremblay, who had assembled much of the vineyard land in the 1940s and 1950s. The name “Malandes,” meaning “bad land,” refers to stony ground once considered unsuitable for farming but ideal for vines. Over the decades, the domaine grew to 29 hectares, producing wines celebrated for their freshness and minerality, rooted in the Kimmeridgian soils of Chablis. In 2006, winemaking was entrusted to oenologist Guénolé Breteaudeau, whose precise style aligned with Marchive’s vision of terroir-driven Chablis. Lyne retired in 2018, passing the estate to her children, Richard Rottiers and Amandine Marchive, who continue the family tradition while converting the vineyards to organic farming.

Antinori Tignanello is a groundbreaking Italian wine first produced in 1971 by the historic Antinori family, whose winemaking roots date back to 1385. Tignanello marked a major shift in Tuscan winemaking—it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques (small oak barrels), the first red wine in Tuscany to be blended with non-traditional varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and among the first from the Chianti Classico region to be made without white grapes. Originally labeled as a Chianti Classico Riserva, it became a Tuscan red table wine in 1971 and helped define the Super Tuscan category. Tignanello is produced exclusively from the Tignanello vineyard, located in the Tenuta Tignanello estate in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, with limestone-rich soils and a southwest exposure.

Domaine Matrot is one of Burgundy’s historic family estates, rooted in Meursault since 1835, and today run by sisters Adèle and Elsa Matrot. The domaine began with Joseph Matrot and his wife Marguerite Amoignon, who settled in Meursault in 1914 and expanded the vineyards. Successive generations modernized and grew the estate, with Pierre Matrot taking over in 1937 and his son Thierry leading vinification from 1983.
