Winemaker Notes

The 2018 Domaine Coquard Loison-Fleurot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a dense, opulent expression crafted from 70-year-old vines that took the longest of the domaine’s cuvées to complete its alcoholic fermentation. The wine presents a ripe, black-fruit-dominated bouquet of black cherries, blueberry, and cassis, which according to Robert Rolls, also carries deep, earthy red fruit notes reflective of its clay-heavy terroir. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and "super saturated" with a thick, velvety texture and ripe tannins that balance its concentrated dark fruit profile.
