The 2018 Domaine Marquis d’Angerville Pommard 1er Cru "Combes Dessus" is a full, firm, and generous wine that exemplifies the "Volnaysian" elegance of the estate despite its Pommard origins. According to winemaker Guillaume d’Angerville, the wine reflects a transition in style since its conversion to biodynamics, yielding a classic Pommard character with a more refined edge. On the nose, it offers a pretty and expressive bouquet of raspberries, poached plum, and raw cocoa, accented by delicate notes of orange rind, flowers, and whiffs of earthy underbrush. The palate is medium to full-bodied and "super-saturated," featuring a supple, round texture and a generous core of dark fruit and minerals that are framed by powdery, slightly rustic tannins.

Domaine Lécheneaut was established in the late 1950s by Fernand Lécheneaut, who began with 2.5 hectares of vineyards spread across Nuits-Saint-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny, and Morey-Saint-Denis. In 1985, his sons Vincent and Philippe took over after completing oenology studies in Beaune, expanding the domaine to around 12 hectares across 23 appellations, including prestigious parcels in Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, and Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru. They modernized the winery with thermoregulation and refined viticultural practices, focusing on quality and terroir expression. Winemaker Notes
This 2023 vintage wine offers tremendous depth and nuance. Gap’s Crown Vineyard responded well to the cooler weather conditions and matured at an even pace, allowing us to pick each block at optimal maturity. We again fermented the clone 828 block with stems included, adding verve and spice notes to the finished blend. The 2023 vintage has a mix of red cherry and darker berry flavors with baking spice notes. This exceptional vineyard and distinctive volcanic soils delivered a beautiful wine again with the 2023 vintage.
