Winemaker Notes

Krug Grande Cuvée 171ème Édition ECHOES, composed around the 2015 harvest, is a blend of 131 wines spanning 12 vintages (2000–2015), crafted from 45% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay, and 18% Meunier. After seven years of ageing in Krug’s cellars, it reveals a golden hue with fine, persistent bubbles and a bouquet of burnished lemon, candied citrus, red apple, Rainier cherry, and toasted brioche. On the palate, it is powerful yet refined, with layers of savory citrus, nutty richness, and chalky minerality balanced by a backbone of strident lemon pith and fresh acidity. The finish is long, complex, and timeless, embodying Krug’s philosophy of generosity and depth, and making this edition a quintessential expression of the House’s artistry.

About Winery

Krug Champagne is one of the most prestigious Champagne houses in the world, known for its commitment to quality and tradition. Krug was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary who believed in creating the best Champagne every year, regardless of climate variations. He established the house in Reims, the heart of the Champagne region. Joseph Krug’s philosophy was to focus on the individuality of each plot and its wine, creating a library of reserve wines from different years to ensure consistency and excellence. Krug is credited with pioneering the concept of non-vintage Champagne, blending wines from multiple years to achieve a consistent and complex flavor profile.
