About Winery
La Chablisienne was established in 1923 under Abbé Balitrand, when local growers united to withstand economic challenges by pooling resources into a cooperative. Based in Chablis, Yonne, France, the group gradually expanded to include more than 250 member producers, cultivating around 1,250 hectares of vineyards. The cooperative became central to the identity of Chablis, producing wines across all appellation levels—from Petit Chablis to Chablis Grand Cru—with Chardonnay as the sole varietal. By the mid-20th century, La Chablisienne had developed a reputation for careful vinification and blending, and in 2014 its oenologist Vincent Bartement was named IWC White Winemaker of the Year, further cementing its prestige. Today, La Chablisienne remains the dominant force in Chablis, combining tradition with modern expertise to craft terroir-driven wines that are distributed internationally.
