About Winery
The Raquillet family has been making wine in Mercurey, Burgundy, for over 12 generations, with records tracing their presence back to the 1600s. In 1990, François Raquillet assumed control of the domaine from his father Jean, working alongside his wife Emmanuelle. Passionate about vineyard management, François invested in modern equipment and reduced yields to improve quality, while also introducing higher-grade oak barrels for his Premier Cru wines. The estate now spans about 14 hectares, including prized old-vine parcels in Mercurey’s top Premier Crus such as Vasées and Veleys. Since 2018, their daughter Jeanne has joined the domaine, ensuring continuity of tradition and a smooth generational transition. Known for their supple, fruit-driven style with fine tannins and polished oak integration, the wines of François Raquillet are celebrated for combining accessibility in youth with the ability to age gracefully, making the domaine a benchmark producer in the Côte Chalonnaise.
