About Winery

The Gaunoux family’s winemaking heritage dates back to Henri Gaunoux, whose sons François and Michel established separate domaines in Meursault and Pommard. Domaine François Gaunoux, also known as Château Gaunoux, lies beside the family’s Clos de Tavaux vineyard and has remained family-owned for generations. François’s daughter Claudine now leads the estate, overseeing about 10 hectares of vines with a philosophy rooted in meticulous, hand-driven vineyard work—early pruning, late harvesting, and hand-picking grapes. Unlike most Burgundy producers, the domaine destems grapes of both colors and matures wines entirely in stainless steel rather than oak barrels, resulting in a pure, terroir-focused style. This approach, combined with the family’s deep roots in Côte de Beaune, has made Domaine François Gaunoux a respected yet quietly distinctive name in Burgundy winemaking.
