The 2016 Carabello-Baum Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru (produced by Château de Pommard) is a white Burgundy Chardonnay from a challenging vintage, offering a pale yellow color with gold highlights. It features a complex bouquet of citrus, white flowers, acacia, and hazelnut with a fresh, generous palate and long,, slightly saline finish, often aged in oak.

In 2014, Silicon Valley entrepreneur Michael Baum and his family (Famille Carabello-Baum) purchased the historic Château de Pommard in Burgundy, France, becoming the first Americans to own a winery in the region. They became the fifth family in 300 years to steward the estate, focusing on converting the 20-hectare Clos Marey-Monge vineyard to biodynamic farming and elevating their wines.

The 2023 Guidalberto showcases a deep purple-red hue with an intricate aroma of lavender, blackcurrant, thyme, and citrus hints. Its fresh palate balances acidity and salinity, with well-integrated tannins leading to a clean, refined finish. Guidalberto was created by Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri, Tuscany, as a tribute to Guidalberto della Gherardesca, an ancestor known for his agricultural vision. Launched in 2000, it was conceived to broaden the estate’s range beyond Sassicaia, offering a wine that could be enjoyed earlier while still expressing the gravelly soils and coastal breezes of Bolgheri. Crafted mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Guidalberto quickly gained recognition as a refined yet approachable “Super Tuscan,” embodying the estate’s philosophy of innovation rooted in tradition.

Vega Sicilia is one of Spain’s most iconic and prestigious wineries, with a rich history dating back to 1864. Here's a brief overview:
Founded by Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves, a Spanish winemaker trained in Bordeaux, who brought with him French grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. He planted these alongside the native Tempranillo (then called Tinto del País) in the Ribera del Duero region.
The winery gained fame in the 20th century for producing some of Spain’s most celebrated wines, especially its flagship wine, Único, known for its complexity and extraordinary aging potential.
In 1982, the Álvarez family acquired Vega Sicilia, marking a new era of modernization and expansion. Under Pablo Álvarez’s leadership, the winery has maintained its legendary status while also expanding into other regions like Toro (with Pintia) and Rioja.
Despite its name, Vega Sicilia has no connection to the island of Sicily. “Vega” refers to fertile river plains, and “Sicilia” is believed to reference Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music.

About Winery
Château La Gaffelière is owned by Léo de Malet Roquefort. Located in the centre of the St. Emilion appellation, due south of St. Emilion town, the property shares a similar climate to that enjoyed by both St.Emilion and Pomerol: more continental than the maritime Médoc, with generally more spring rainfall, though less in summer and winter.
La Gaffeliere’s vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon 5%, Merlot 65%, Cabernet Franc 30%) lie on a sloped sandy/clay-limestone topsoil and limestone subsoil (a mix of Côtes and Pieds de Côtes).
La Gaffeliere is classified as a 1er grand cru classé(B). Clos La Gaffeliere is their Second wine. Born in 1985, Clos is produced mainly from the young vines.
Winemaker Notes
The 2020 Flume Crossing Sauvignon Blanc is pale yellow in color and displays aromas of honeysuckle, sweet herbs, lime, and fig. These aromas are complemented on the palate by the bright flavors of grapefruit, kiwi, passionfruit, and lemongrass, with the rich texture and long finish provided by the acacia barrel.
Serve as an aperitif with goat cheese, oysters, or sardines, or enjoy as an entrée with sushi, sashimi, or baked tilapia with Thai basil.
THE J LOHR STORY
Fifty years ago, Jerry Lohr embarked on a career change. What followed would reshape the landscape of the California wine industry and create one of the country’s most popular wine brands.
In the late 1960s, Jerry Lohr began an extensive investigation of California grape growing regions – searching for the ideal location for his first vineyard. Jerry was raised on a South Dakota farm; his agricultural roots armed him with an innate sense for the relationship between climate, soil, and location. His research and instincts led him to the Central Coast, an area just beginning to explore its potential for winegrowing.
Four decades ago, the California Central Coast had not yet emerged as one of North America’s world-class winegrowing regions. With little history or viticultural precedent, planting on the Central Coast was a gamble. One of a handful of early pioneers, Jerry Lohr was among the first to realize the inherent potential of Monterey and Paso Robles for producing high quality grapes and superb wines.
PIONEERING MONTEREY AND PASO ROBLES -JERRY LOHR LEGACY-It’s no coincidence that the Central Coast’s emergence as a world class winegrowing region runs parallel with the establishment and growth of J. Lohr Vineyards & Winery. Founder Jerry Lohr is one of the region’s pioneers and has played a larger-than-life role in bringing the area to prominence.
Jerry’s instincts led him to two regions located about 75 miles apart. In the early 1970s, he chose Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco district for its cool, windy climate and rocky soils as ideal for Chardonnay. In the 1980s, he recognized the potential of Paso Robles for growing Bordeaux varietals, especially Cabernet Sauvignon – given the area’s rich soils and dramatic diurnal temperature swings between warm days and cool nights.
After Jerry Lohr’s nearly decade-long search for the right place to plant his first vineyard, he chose a site in Monterey County that was to become the heart of the Arroyo Seco appellation. Jerry originally planted 280 acres in 1972 and 1973 near Greenfield. Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco appellation has proved ideal for growing layered, complex Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Brisk winds and fog off Monterey Bay, stony, well-drained soils, and a lack of damaging fall rains all combine to produce grapes with trademark fruit intensity and balancing acidity. In 1974, Jerry unveiled the first J. Lohr winery in San Jose.
In the early 1980s, Jerry Lohr saw the potential for great Cabernet Sauvignon further south. Borrowing a lesson from the French—that great Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon excel in very different growing conditions—Jerry began planting Cabernet Sauvignon and other red varieties in San Luis Obispo County’s little-known Paso Robles region in 1986. With the hands-on devotion of an artisan farmer, Jerry tended to the vines while diligently working toward the creation and development of an adjacent winery and barreling cellars; J. Lohr’s Paso Robles production facility was opened in 1988.

About Winery
Built in the 17th century, Chateau de Sales is largest estate in the Pomerol appellation on the Right Bank. The chateau possesses exceptional beauty and elegance, and the same is true for its wines as they are the true expression of the Pomerol terroir from which they originate. Located in the northwest corner of Pomerol, it is the only true chateau building in the appellation and has been owned by the same family for more than five hundred years. Chateau de Sales wines are the expression of their terroir: fruit-driven, round and full-bodied, with good structure on the palate, smoothness, refinement and elegance.
Located 22 miles east of Bordeaux, the vineyard of Chateau de Sales is situated in the northwestern part of the Pomerol appellation. The chateau's vineyard has a surface area of over 200 acres, of which 118 acres are planted — the largest in Pomerol. The soils of Chateau de Sales are comprised of fine gravel and sand, with clay in some areas and an omnipresence of iron oxide, known as "crasse de fer."
The vines are an average of more than 30 years old. The grape varieties planted here are typical of this appellation: 73% merlot, 15% cabernet sauvignon and 12% cabernet franc. The vines are cultivated in the traditional way: the soil is regularly ploughed, vineyard practices are environmentally sound, leaves are removed with clusters thinned at regular intervals, and the grapes are harvested by hand at optimum maturity for each parcel.
Winemaker Notes
2021 Joseph Drouhin Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a highly precise and beautifully tense expression of a historically low-yielding, cooler vintage. In the glass, it shows an attractive pale golden color, opening on the nose with an effervescent mix of citrus fruit, white peach, fresh almond, and a touch of chamomile. True to the 2021 vintage profile, the palate is more linear, focused, and driven by a strong mineral tension rather than opulent weight. It cuts a very straight, structured line across the tongue with lively acidity and a salty edge, leaving a beautifully persistent, complex finish that will need a few years of bottle age to fully expand and reveal its true depth.

Antinori Tignanello is a groundbreaking Italian wine first produced in 1971 by the historic Antinori family, whose winemaking roots date back to 1385. Tignanello marked a major shift in Tuscan winemaking—it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques (small oak barrels), the first red wine in Tuscany to be blended with non-traditional varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and among the first from the Chianti Classico region to be made without white grapes. Originally labeled as a Chianti Classico Riserva, it became a Tuscan red table wine in 1971 and helped define the Super Tuscan category. Tignanello is produced exclusively from the Tignanello vineyard, located in the Tenuta Tignanello estate in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, with limestone-rich soils and a southwest exposure.

The 2018 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru "Grèves" Rouge is a beautifully expressive, pure, and texturally complete Pinot Noir that highlights the concentration of a warm, solar vintage while maintaining classic Burgundy elegance. In the glass, it displays an intense, brilliant purplish-cherry red color. The bouquet is strikingly open and aromatic, weaving together ripe aromas of black raspberry, dark cherry, and wild currant with delicate floral notes of violets, all framed by hints of sweet oak spice, autumn leaf, and a faint touch of smoky tobacco. On the palate, the wine delivers a full-bodied, generous mouthfeel characterized by an incredibly smooth, caressing, and velvety texture packed with dense, juicy red and black fruits. While the vintage brings a natural richness and a supple roundness to the mid-palate, it is kept impeccably balanced by a surprising vein of fresh acidity and structured around fine, youthfully taut tannins that prevent any sense of heaviness. The finish is remarkably persistent and classy, leaving a lingering impression of crème de cassis, exotic five-spice, and a fine dust of earthy minerals, making this a highly rewarding Beaune Premier Cru that is deliciously approachable now but possesses the structure to evolve gracefully in the cellar for the next decade.

The 2012 Château Cheval Blanc is a beautifully balanced wine with a deep red-purple color. It features aromas of red and blackberries, floral notes, and a touch of mint and graphite. On the palate, it offers a smooth attack, fine tannins, and incredible length. A blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Franc, this elegant wine is already complex and will continue to evolve gracefully over the next 20 years.

Medium to full-bodied, it possesses wonderful energy and freshness on the palate with a beautifully poised ethereal nature and long mineral-tinged finish. This elegantly crafted beauty should enter its drinking window in a couple of years and cellar gracefully for another 20 years.

The present-day Cheval Blanc vineyards had vines at least as far back as the 18th century, as shown by Belleyme's map of the region dated 1764. Nearly a century later, the estate was acquired by the Fourcaud-Laussac family who owned it until 1998, when it was sold to Mr Bernard Arnault and Baron Albert Frère.
The vineyard is in a single block, and borders on the Pomerol appellation. An outstanding terror and unusual proportions of Cabernet Franc and Merlot give this great wine an absolutely unique flavor. Chateau Cheval Blanc has had a greater number of outstanding vintages than any other classified great growth over the past century.
Another unusual characteristic of Cheval Blanc is that once it reaches its peak, it maintains it for a very long time. This admirable wine is powerful, soft, rich, round and silky. It has tremendous fruit and elegance as well as exceptional quality from year to year.
