About Winery
The Mongeard family began cultivating vines in Vosne-Romanée in the 18th century, and in 1945 Eugène Mongeard married Edmée Mugneret, creating Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret. Over the following decades, Eugène expanded the estate’s holdings, building a reputation for producing expressive Pinot Noirs from some of Burgundy’s most prestigious terroirs, including Grands Échezeaux, Clos de Vougeot, Richebourg, and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. In 1976, their son Jean Mongeard took over management, modernizing vineyard practices while maintaining traditional winemaking methods. Today, the domaine spans more than 30 hectares across 35 appellations, making it one of the largest family-owned estates in the Côte de Nuits. Known for its balance of power and finesse, Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret continues to embody centuries of Burgundian heritage while remaining firmly family-run.
