Claude Dugat La Gibryotte Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru

Description

Tasting Notes

The Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru from Claude Dugat’s La Gibryotte opens with aromas of ripe cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant, layered with violet, rose petal, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet elegant, with concentrated red and black fruit, earthy minerality, and hints of smoke, licorice, and fine oak. Silky tannins and vibrant acidity provide balance, while the finish is long, structured, and complex. This wine is approachable in youth but truly shines with 10–20 years of aging, revealing greater depth and finesse over time.

About Winery

Domaine Claude Dugat is located in Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, and has been in the Dugat family since the 19th century. Claude’s father, Maurice, purchased the historic Grange des Dîmes in 1955, converting it into a winery. Claude Dugat established the domaine in its modern form in 1991, quickly gaining cult status for his concentrated yet elegant Pinot Noirs. Today, the estate farms about 6 hectares, including prestigious sites like Lavaux Saint-Jacques, Charmes-Chambertin, and Griottes-Chambertin. Since 2015, Claude’s children—Bertrand, Laetitia, and Jeanne—have taken over, shifting toward organic and biodynamic farming and more restrained cellar practices, emphasizing purity, terroir, and finesse. The domaine remains small and highly sought after, producing wines that balance richness with precision.
