Blanc de Chasse-Spleen is a white wine produced by the historic Château Chasse-Spleen estate, located in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation of Bordeaux, France.
The Blanc de Chasse-Spleen was first conceptualized in the 1990s, when the estate—traditionally known for its red wines—experimented with producing a white wine.
The Villars family, owners of the estate, initially crafted the wine for private enjoyment among family, friends, and staff, refining their techniques over time.

About Winery
The vivacity and aromatic expression of a dry white Bordeaux wine.It was in 1853 that Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild acquired Château Brane-Mouton at auction. The estate, located in the heart of the Médoc, in Pauillac, was then renamed Château Mouton Rothschild. In 1922, Baron Philippe de Rothschild took over the reins of the estate. Visionary, he decided to initiate in 1924 the complete bottling at the château while entrusting the illustration of the cru label to an artist. Each year since 1945, the label of Château Mouton Rothschild is illustrated by the original work of a great contemporary artist. Dalí, César, Miró, Chagall, Warhol, Soulages, Bacon, Balthus, Tàpies, Koons, Doig… an exciting collection that grows each year with a new work and constitutes the famous exhibition "Art and Label". Emblem of the Pauillac appellation, this Premier Cru Classé makes the great wines of Bordeaux shine throughout the world. Today, it is the three children of Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, Camille and Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild who preside over the destiny of Château Mouton Rothschild.

Château Rieussec is a sweet white wine ranked as Premier Cru Classé (French, “First Growth”) in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. Belonging to the Sauternes appellation in Gironde, in the region of Graves, the winery is located in the commune of Fargues.
The Rieussec estate was the property of the monks of Carmes de Langon in the 18th century. Following the French Revolution, church property was confiscated by the state and auctioned off. In about 1790, Rieussec was bought in this fashion by a Mr. Marheilhac, who at this time was also the owner of Château La Louvière in Léognan. The owner at the time of the 1855 classification, when Rieussec was classified a first growth, was a Mr. Mayne. After that, Rieussec had a long succession of owners: Charles Crepin bought in around 1870, Paul Defolie in 1892, Mr. Edgar Bannel a well known banker of Bordeaux in 1907, the Gasqueton family (also owners of Château Calon-Ségur in Saint Estèphe), the American P. F. Berry (brother-in-law of the Vicomte de Bouzet) during the war, Mr. Balaresque in 1957 and Albert Vuillier in 1971. In 1984, Rieussec was bought by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, the owners of Château Lafite Rothschild. The Rothschilds invested in a new cellar in 1989, and strove to increase quality by better selection of the grapes, which also led to reduced production in the 1990s. In the 1993 vintage, one of three difficult Bordeaux vintages in a row, no Château Rieussec grand vin was produced at all out of quality considerations. One of the more recent recognitions for quality was when Château Rieussec 2001 was selected as Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year in 2004.

For centuries, perched on a majestic hill in Tain-l'Hermitage, stands a monument of viticulture: Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné. Embodying the quintessence of the great wines of the Northern Rhône Valley, the estate was taken over by the Frey Family in 2006. In pursuit of innovation, the Frey family recently created a new setting for the production of two of its cuvées: La Chapelle and Chevalier de Stérimberg. Taking the name of the Domaine de la Chapelle, this new entity, which will be equipped with an exceptional cellar designed by the famous Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, reflects the quest for excellence led by Caroline Frey and her team to produce ever more precise wines.
Resulting from a rigorous selection of the most beautiful plots in the west of the appellation, this Hermitage wine is made from old vines planted between 1955 and 1994, trained in stakes and planted on a mosaic of terroirs contributing to the signature of this exceptional cuvée.

Winemaker Notes
The Unoaked Chardonnay opens with bursts of jasmine and honeysuckle floral notes, followed by delicate quince and stone fruit aromas. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and receiving weekly batonnage (lees stirring) during aging, the resulting wine has both weight and verve. Flavors of yellow apple and pear are emphasized by a texture reminiscent of pear skins. This wine is approachable upon release but deserves 2-3 years of cellaring. – Jessica Gilmore, Associate Winemaker
About Winery
Like most good stories, the history of Williams Selyem owes much to serendipity. If a grower with an abundance of fruit hadn’t given Burt Williams a few tonnes of free grapes in the 1970s, Burt might never have discovered his love and flair for winemaking. And if Burt and his partner Ed Selyem had been able to afford the French Burgundies they both favoured, they might never have tried making their own pinot noir.
The two friends didn’t set out to produce wines for anyone but themselves. And they surely never imagined that their humble experiment in home winemaking would spawn a cult-status winery of international acclaim. Together, Burt and Ed set a new standard for American-made pinot noir, and elevated Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley to among the best wine growing regions in the world.
Now considered Russian River Valley royalty, Williams Selyem are responsible for some of the most sought-after handcrafted expressions of pinot noir across both the New World and Old.
Winemaker Notes
The 2023 Williams Selyem Drake Estate Chardonnay is described as having yellow apple and Meyer lemon notes on the nose, with hints of shiso and tarragon. The vineyard's proximity to a river influences the wine's aromas, adding a touch of the nearby woods. It's layered and full-bodied on the palate, with structure and minerality attributed to old-Wente and Calera Chardonnay clones. The finish is elegant, with hints of crushed rocks and minerals.

From a Sonoma Coast vineyard, the 2005 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard reveals extremely uplifted aromatics displaying hints of wet stones, white currants, flowers, peaches, and subtle tropical fruits. Full-bodied, intense, and tightly-knit, it should drink well for 7-8 years. Kistler Vineyards, undeniably one of the world's finest winemaking estates, is run with passionate dedication to detail and quality by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler. It is wines like these that keep an old critic like me inspired and energized.

Pale yellow. Piercing lifted scents of ripe orchard fruits and floral nuances with its classic marine aromatic base layers framing the higher pitched tones. Conveys a sense of weight without heaviness. Supportive and integrated natural acids buoy the forward presence of the wine. Finishes with great length, depth and persistence with a quiet verve. A compelling example of Durell.

We sourced our 2020 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay from three of the top vineyard sites in the Sonoma Coast – Sangiacomo, Durell, and Gap’s Crown – with the goal of creating a cuvée that showcases the varietal’s exceptional character across the Sonoma Coast appellation. These diverse vineyards produced light crops in 2020 due to drought conditions, with each vineyard offering layers of robust flavors. An expressive nose of stone fruit and apple leads to rich flavors and an intriguing mix of depth and vibrancy. Fermentation in 30% new French oak barrels adds rich texture and complex character.
