About Winery
Domaine Dugat-Py, rooted in Gevrey-Chambertin since the early 17th century, is a family estate now led by Bernard Dugat and his son Loïc, representing the 12th and 13th generations of vignerons.
The Dugat family’s winemaking history began in 1645, with continuous cultivation in Gevrey-Chambertin for centuries. The modern domaine was formally established in 1923, when Fernand Dugat married Jeanne Bolnot, uniting two winegrowing families. Bernard Dugat made his first vinification and vineyard purchase in 1975, marking the start of a new era. In 1994, the estate became known as Domaine Dugat-Py, and Loïc Dugat joined in 1996, ushering in a stylistic evolution toward balance and finesse. The domaine converted to organic farming in 1999 and achieved full certification in 2003, working with old vines across about 10–15 hectares. Known for powerful, age-worthy wines with deep color and structure, Dugat-Py has become one of Burgundy’s most respected names, combining centuries of tradition with modern, detail-focused viticulture under Loïc’s leadership.

About Winery
Domaine Joseph Voillot is a six-generation family estate based in Volnay, Burgundy, with roots tracing back to the 19th century when Jean-Baptiste Voillot expanded the vineyards with parcels like Clos Micault in 1870; later generations, including Marius Voillot, added prestigious sites such as Volnay Fremiets, Pommard Rugiens, and Meursault Les Cras, often through marriage alliances, while Joseph Voillot himself upheld traditional Burgundian winemaking before passing the domaine to his nephew Jean-Pierre Charlot, who modernized operations; today, under Etienne Chaix, Joseph’s grandson, the estate cultivates about 8 hectares across Volnay, Pommard, Meursault, and Beaune, producing wines from 13 appellations with a philosophy rooted in “bon sens paysans” (peasant common sense) and a commitment to sustainability, reflected in its High Environmental Value certification since 2017.
Winemaker Notes
Intense shiny red with purple hints. Very intense aromatic expression. The bouquet of aromas of red fruit (cherry, wild strawberries) and spices is intensified by the freshness and complexity of the wine. On the palate, the balance of this wine is predominant. A supple and fresh attack add a lovely liveliness. Soft, precise tannins bring an attractive structure with an elegant finish.
Blend: 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon
About Winery
A joint venture between Chateau Cheval Blanc and Terrazas De Los Andes, this wine is a groundbreaking blend of legendary Bordeaux "First Growth" winemaking expertise with the very best terroir in Argentina.
Cheval des Andes originated as Director Pierre Lurton sought out a special international terroir in which to apply the storied blending heritage of the French chateau. Lurton was intrigued by the notion of unearthing a connection with the Saint Émilion past: Malbec, decimated by phylloxera in the 1860s from its position as the one of the most important varieties in Saint Emilion and Pomerol, had since been reincarnated in ungrafted form in Argentina, producing some of the world's best Malbecs in recent years.
Cheval Blanc's reconnection with its past was consummated in 1999 as Pierre Lurton visited a select parcel of the most treasured high elevation terroir in Argentina: Terrazas de los Andes' 76-year-old Las Compuertas vineyard, found in Vistalba, Mendoza. In resulting launch vintages of 2001 and 2002, according to Pierre Lurton, Cheval des Andes has proven to "fit in the spirit of Cheval Blanc," refined and elegant in its Bordeaux style, while displaying the characteristic fruit intensity of its Argentine roots.

About Winery5th classified growth in 1855. The name of Grand-Puy comes from the old expression "puy" which means "hill, little hill", and this land is mentioned in documents dating from the Middle Ages. Indeed, the vineyard extends on one of the ridges of land which were made the first wines of the Medoc. Since the sixteenth century, the thought has passed from generation to generation and, by way of alliances between families, he stayed within the same descent until 1920, before resuming a destiny with Borie family in 1978. Under the leadership of François-Xavier Borie (Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou), GP Lacoste is the perfect example of a classic Pauillac, tannic and full bodied. A wine for keeping, which makes part of the top of the Medoc wines.

The 2021 Antinori Marchese Chianti Classico Riserva is a vibrant and elegant wine with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it reveals layered aromas of black cherries, red fruit, and floral hints, complemented by sweet impressions of powdered sugar, cinnamon, and dill, adding a pleasantly spicy nuance. The palate is taut and mouthfilling, with supple tannins and a lengthy, savory finish. Additional tasting notes highlight flavors of black plums, ripe red cherries, spices, and tobacco, supported by a salty mineral edge and a touch of earthy dried herbs, making it a standout wine from a vintage considered one of the best in Chianti Classico history.
About Winery
Antinori Tignanello is a groundbreaking Italian wine first produced in 1971 by the historic Antinori family, whose winemaking roots date back to 1385. Tignanello marked a major shift in Tuscan winemaking—it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques (small oak barrels), the first red wine in Tuscany to be blended with non-traditional varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and among the first from the Chianti Classico region to be made without white grapes. Originally labeled as a Chianti Classico Riserva, it became a Tuscan red table wine in 1971 and helped define the Super Tuscan category. Tignanello is produced exclusively from the Tignanello vineyard, located in the Tenuta Tignanello estate in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, with limestone-rich soils and a southwest exposure.

This extraordinary wine possesses an enormous wealth of black cherry, blueberry, cassis and espresso flavors, wrapped in fine, well-toasted oak. Has that rare quality of elegance, in which all the parts work together in harmony. Thoroughly dry, it's marked by a firm, astringent tannic structure now, but is a certain cel lar candidate.

A creamy, forward style, with a core of warmed raspberry and boysenberry preserves infused liberally with mocha and melted licorice. Shows a late flicker of chaparral. This is meant for near-term hedonism

While the wine has sufficient tannins and structure for long-term bottle aging, Caymus Cabernet is dark and concentrated, with ripe, luxurious, fruit-driven softness that shows from the day of release.
About Winery
In 1972, Chuck Wagner started Caymus Vineyards with his parents, Charlie and Lorna, with a humble plan and an uncharted future. The Wagner family were farmers with deep roots in the Napa Valley – in 1857, Chuck Wagner’s great-great grandfather captained a wagon train to California from Bible Grove, Missouri. Working together for decades, Chuck Wagner and his parents established the family’s work ethic, appetite for innovation, down-to-earth sensibility, and deep appreciation of the pleasures of good food and wine enjoyed with family and friends.
Tasting Notes
Very fresh and intense with fantastic dark fruit and wet earth. Mushrooms, too. Full-bodied, powerful and extremely long. Such depth and freshness. A great wine. I remember this wine when it was young; it showed so much wood, but it has come together wonderfully. Bravo! Long future.

About Winery
AvinoDos Winery was founded in 2012 by Dan Dexter and his wife Julie, built on a foundation of friendship and deep agricultural roots, with a vision to craft small-lot, single-vineyard Napa Valley wines that embody both quality and community.
AvinoDos, meaning “wines from two,” reflects the partnership and shared dream of its founders, who combined Dan’s Midwestern farming heritage with Napa’s winemaking tradition. From the beginning, the winery emphasized authenticity and connection—working closely with local growers, producing varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Zinfandel, Rosé, and Sauvignon Blanc, and inviting wine lovers of all backgrounds to share in the experience. The entrepreneurial spirit of the West shaped their philosophy: to make wines true to Napa’s essence while fostering a welcoming environment rooted in friendship. With guidance from respected winemaker Gustavo Brambila, AvinoDos quickly established itself as a boutique producer known for limited-production, award-winning wines that highlight the character of Napa Valley’s terroir.

The 2016 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia is a wine of extreme complexity and precision. It offers monumental depth with profound layers of black fruit, coffee, licorice and baking chocolate. I tasted this 2016 vintage beside the less-impactful 2015 vintage (which was reviewed last year). These two editions are very different when compared side to side, and this 2016 release is clearly superior in terms of the quality, clarity and intensity of its offerings. This Ornellaia delivers glossy shine and a polished texture that segues to important richness, concentration and textural fiber. It wraps thickly over the palate, imparting waves of sweet dark fruit and dark spice that linger for many long minutes.

The aromas of blackcurrants, fresh basil and thyme, as well as cedar and sandalwood are so attractive. It’s full-bodied and very linear with tight tannins that draw you down the length of this young wine. Wet-earth and cool-stone undertones. It’s solid and so structured. A classic Ornellaia for the cellar.
About Winery
In 1981, Marchese Lodovico Antinori breathed new life into Tenuta dell' Ornellaia, an estate whose potential had been ignored for decades. With the help of Andre Tchelistcheff, the famous agronomist, Antinori planted the first French vines in Bolgheri, which lies in the heart of Tuscany's coastal region, Maremma. The estate yields some of the finest Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc in Tuscany. In 2002, Marchesi de' Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi became owners of Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, which is now owned exclusively by Marchesi de' Frescobaldi.
Ornellaia has established itself among the iconic wine estates in Italy (and beyond). The estate is dedicated to producing charming and opulent wines, full of Mediterranean character and finesse, reflecting the estate’s unique terroir in Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast. The combination of Bolgheri’s unique soils and growing conditions, and what can only be characterized as a total obsession with excellence, result in the world-class wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc that so many wine lovers across the world have come to cherish.
Ornellaia employs a full time team of 80 people whose passion and motivation make Ornellaia what it is today. No shortcuts in the part of the production are allowed and the details literally come down to a grape by grape basis. Wines are intently crafted to capture the character of each vintage, in all its complexity and facets. In fact, the character and intricacies of each individual vintage are so important to the estate that since vintage 2006, Winemaker and Estate Director Axel Heinz has identified a single word that captures the character of each vintage, and that word is interpreted by a contemporary artist who produces special labels and a site-specific work of art that remains part of the estate’s permanent collection.
In addition to its place among Italy’s iconic wines, Ornellaia is also an ambassador for the Bolgheri region, leading it to be recognized as one of Italy’s greatest winegrowing regions. It is their belief, and it is hard to argue, that Bogheri’s mild maritime climate and diversity of soils create wines as distinct, complex and pleasurable as any in the world.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Few And Far Between Vineyard is pure magic and tops out my scale. From a site near Eisele Vineyard, it has a complex bouquet of red, blue, and black fruits as well as new leather, freshly sharpened pencils, bouquet garni, and assorted spices. Deep, full-bodied, ripe, and sexy, it shows the structured, pure, precise style of the 2018 vintage while bringing classic Hundred Acre depth, richness, and length. Drink this sensational beauty over the coming 20-25 years.
About Winery
Hundred Acre is not simply a winery—it is a legend carved into Napa’s hillsides. From Morgan’s Way to Ark and Few and Far Between, each vineyard is treated as sacred ground, yielding Cabernets that have earned more than seventy-eight perfect scores. Inspired by the whimsical Hundred Acre Wood yet executed with obsessive craftsmanship, the estate has become a beacon of rarity and myth, where every release is both a treasure and a testament to the pursuit of the extraordinary.
