About Winery
The Ponsot family established their domaine in 1954 in Morey-Saint-Denis, initially focusing on small vineyard holdings in the Côte de Nuits. Laurent Ponsot joined the estate in 1981, bringing a pioneering spirit that transformed its reputation, particularly through his work with old vines, minimal intervention winemaking, and distinctive bottling practices. Under his guidance, the domaine became renowned for producing expressive Pinot Noirs from prestigious Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites such as Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis, and Chambertin. In 2017, Laurent left the family domaine to found his own independent estate, Domaine Laurent Ponsot, continuing his philosophy of innovation and terroir respect. Today, his wines are recognized worldwide for their purity, longevity, and unique character, cementing his legacy as one of Burgundy’s most influential modern vignerons.
