The Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux Premier Cru from Domaine Henri Magnien opens with a glorious bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry, and floral notes, accented by hints of white pepper and earthy forest floor. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, supple yet structured, with sappy red fruit, fine-grain tannins, and lively acidity. Oak influence is subtle, adding depth without overpowering the terroir. The finish is persistent, stony, and mildly austere, showing youthful energy but excellent balance.
About Winery
Domaine Henri Magnien is a historic Burgundy estate in Gevrey-Chambertin, with roots dating back to the 1600s. Officially founded in 1987 by Henri Magnien, it is now run by Charles Magnien, the 12th generation of the family, who has modernized the winery while preserving its heritage. The domaine is renowned for its old vines, including a unique Pinot Noir clone called “Pinot Magnien,” which produces concentrated, age-worthy wines.
