Tasting Notes
The Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru La Coutière from Domaine Henri Magnien typically opens with aromas of red fruits (cherry, raspberry, cranberry), accented by earthy notes of mushroom and minerals, and subtle spice such as licorice or menthol. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, firm, and structured, with tannins that can feel slightly austere in youth. Oak aging adds hints of vanilla and toast, while occasional vintages show bitterness or rustic edges.
About Winery
Domaine Henri Magnien is a historic Burgundy estate in Gevrey-Chambertin, with roots dating back to the 1600s. Officially founded in 1987 by Henri Magnien, it is now run by Charles Magnien, the 12th generation of the family, who has modernized the winery while preserving its heritage. The domaine is renowned for its old vines, including a unique Pinot Noir clone called “Pinot Magnien,” which produces concentrated, age-worthy wines.
