Chateau Capbern

Description

PRE-ORDER

2019 | JD 94

Made by the same team as Château Calon-Ségur, this wine is described as powerful and rich, often with 15% alcohol, yet balanced by firm tannins and crisp acidity. It typically features intense notes of black cherry, plum, blackberry, and subtle cedar.

2020 | WE 93-95

The 2020 vintage is noted for being polished and "classy" despite its high-tannin structure.

2021 | WE 93

The polished fruits give a strongly aromatic wine, juicy with black-currant flavors and a core of dark tannins. It is a ripe wine, seriously structured.

About Winery

Château Capbern, a Saint-Estèphe estate, has a history intertwined with Château Calon-Ségur, another renowned estate in the region. The estate's origins date back to the 18th century, stemming from the marriage of the Rivière and Capbern families. The estate was later acquired by the Gasqueton family, who also owned Calon-Ségur. For many years, the estate was known as Château Capbern Gasqueton. In 2012, the estate was sold to Suravenir, and the "Gasqueton" part of the name was dropped.
