The 2022 Joseph Drouhin Côte de Nuits-Villages Rouge is a classic, beautifully harmonious expression of Pinot Noir that shines in a remarkably bright and generous vintage. In the glass, it displays a vibrant, bright ruby color. The nose is impressively complex and forward, bursting with intense aromas of crisp wild cherry, dark plum, and red raspberry, layered with delicate floral scents of violet, mild baking spices, and a hint of licorice. With a little time in the glass, it reveals an inviting, earthy depth reminiscent of forest floor, autumn undergrowth, and wild mushroom. On the palate, the wine showcases an immaculate balance between its lively, refreshing acidity and its finely chiseled, high-quality tannins, offering a medium-bodied profile with a characteristically velvety texture ("gras"). The finish is clean, persistent, and highly elegant, leaving a lingering trail of juicy red berries, herbal nuances like rosemary, and a subtle touch of mineral chalk. While it offers exceptional immediate pleasure and accessibility right now in 2026, it possesses the vibrant energy and structure to evolve beautifully in the cellar over the next three to five years.
About Winery
Maison Joseph Drouhin was founded in 1880 in Beaune, Burgundy, by Joseph Drouhin, and has since grown into one of the region’s most respected wine producers. Over the generations, the family expanded its holdings to include vineyards across Burgundy—such as Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, and Côte Chalonnaise—and later established Domaine Drouhin Oregon in the Willamette Valley. Today, the estate remains family-run by Joseph’s great-grandchildren, who continue the tradition of producing elegant wines with a focus on terroir and sustainable practices, including organic certification for their Burgundy vineyards since 2009
