About Winery
Domaine Leflaive, based in Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, traces its roots back to 1717 when Claude Leflaive settled in the village, but its modern form was shaped by Joseph Leflaive (1870–1953), a naval engineer who purchased 25 hectares of vineyards in 1905 during the post-phylloxera downturn; beginning in 1920, he replanted with better rootstocks and gradually built a reputation for exceptional Chardonnay, particularly from grands crus like Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, and Bâtard-Montrachet; under later generations, the domaine became a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture, fully converting in 1996, and today it spans about 24 hectares, including significant premier and grand cru holdings, producing some of the most sought-after and highly regarded white wines in the world.
