About Winery

Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils, based in Chassagne-Montrachet, traces its roots back to 1809 when Auguste Moreau built a cellar near the Champs Gain vineyard, laying the foundation for the family’s winemaking legacy. Over the decades, Marcel Moreau expanded the vineyard holdings in the 1930s, and Bernard Moreau took over in the early 1960s, officially giving the estate his name in 1977. Since the 1990s, Bernard has worked alongside his sons Alexandre and Benoît, adopting organic and biodynamic practices to highlight terroir expression. The domaine now covers about 15 hectares, with 12 devoted to Chardonnay and 3 to Pinot Noir, producing wines from prestigious appellations including Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru. In 2021, the estate was divided between Alexandre, who retained the winery and cellars, and Benoît, who established his own domaine with 4.2 hectares of vines. Today, Bernard Moreau’s Chevalier-Montrachet stands as one of the estate’s most emblematic wines, celebrated for its precision, minerality, and aging potential.
