About Winery
Founded in 1985, Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard emerged from the union of Laurence Gagnard, inheriting vineyards from the renowned Gagnard-Delagrange family, and Richard Fontaine, who added his own parcels. Initially starting with about four hectares, the estate expanded through careful acquisitions in the 1980s and 1990s to encompass around 12 hectares across Chassagne-Montrachet, Pommard, and Volnay. The domaine is particularly celebrated for its holdings in three Grand Crus—Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet—as well as numerous Premier Crus. Since 2007, their daughter Céline Fontaine has guided the estate, blending youthful energy with Burgundian tradition, and crafting wines known for their finesse, depth, and faithful expression of terroir. Today, Fontaine-Gagnard is recognized as one of the defining producers of Chassagne-Montrachet, with wines that balance accessibility and age-worthy complexity.
