About Winery
The Fichet family has been tied to viticulture for centuries, with records of Stéphus Fichet cultivating vines in 1408. The modern estate was founded in 1976 by Francis Fichet, who boldly withdrew from the village cooperative during a wine crisis to vinify independently. Starting with 11 hectares of vineyards—primarily Gamay and Pinot Noir, with some Chardonnay—Francis quickly earned recognition for the quality of his wines, especially reds. In 1988, his sons Pierre-Yves and Olivier joined, expanding the domaine to 30 hectares and shifting focus toward Chardonnay, the hallmark of the Mâconnais. Today, Domaine Fichet is known for its sustainable viticulture (HVE-certified), with select parcels farmed organically, producing expressive wines that highlight the limestone-rich terroir of Igé and the broader Mâconnais region.
