About Winery

Domaine de Grand Pré, located in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley, was founded in 1994 by Swiss immigrant Hanspeter Stutz, who believed the region’s terroir could produce world-class wines. With the help of his son Jürg, a Swiss-trained winemaker, Hanspeter transformed the property into one of Atlantic Canada’s pioneering wineries, combining viticulture with hospitality and culinary experiences. Initially focused on establishing quality vineyards, the estate grew into a family-run operation that now includes a restaurant led by Chef Jason Lynch, showcasing local ingredients alongside the wines. Today, Hanspeter’s daughter Beatrice manages the winery, while Jürg continues to oversee winemaking, ensuring that Domaine de Grand Pré remains a cornerstone of Nova Scotia’s wine industry, blending European tradition with Canadian innovation.
