Winemaker Notes
The 2014 Domaine Marquis d’Angerville Volnay 1er Cru (a blend of the Mitans and Pitures parcels) is an elegant and classically structured expression that winemaker Guillaume d'Angerville describes as "seductive and approachable" despite the challenging hail-impacted yields of the vintage. The wine features a beautiful, deep nose with high-toned aromas of red cherries, raspberries, and peonies, underscored by a "chocolate ripeness" and subtle mineral depth. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and "mouth-watering," offering a supple, giving texture with fine tannins that lack any harsh grain. While it initially presented a touch of creamy oak and a tightly wound finish of redcurrant and cranberry fruit, its biodynamic viticulture ensures a persistent, floral-inflected finish with a notably architectural structure
