About Winery
The Noëllat family has been part of Burgundy’s winegrowing tradition since the 17th century, originally based in Meuilley near Nuits-Saint-Georges. In the 19th century, Félix Noëllat established the domaine in Vosne-Romanée, passing it to his sons Charles (born 1868) and Ernest. Charles and his wife Anne-Marie (known as Laure) formally founded the Domaine Charles Noëllat, starting with just a few vines. During World War I, Charles left for the front, and Laure expanded the estate with remarkable business acumen, acquiring new plots and strengthening its reputation. By the 20th century, Domaine Charles Noëllat had grown into a prestigious 10-hectare estate, cultivating some of Burgundy’s finest terroirs, including Romanée-Saint-Vivant. In 1988, part of the domaine was acquired by Lalou Bize-Leroy, co-manager of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, cementing its legacy as one of Burgundy’s most sought-after estates
